Our debut EP "Runaways" is out now! 👇

Runaways EP

Runaways tells of a long, rugged journey. At times a melancholic exploration of love and loss on a road that feels both endless and uncertain, it also reveals our natural curiosity and the search for meaning in the simple yet profound experiences of life. 🤘

About

Holden Reed seen here having a nice time in the "mountains"

Holden Reed is an alternative/folk band formed in Denver, Colorado, in 2022. With a blend of acoustic and electric guitars, drums, electric bass, violin, whistles, claps, screams (nothing too scary) and anything else that emerges in the moment, we produce a sound that we hope resonates with authenticity and emotion.

We love making noise and telling stories.

members

Jon Licht (guitar, lead vocals, anything and everything)
Just ridiculously talented. This guy wrote songs for the TV show Dexter and cool video games and shit.

Dave Dyer (drums)
Plays a mean "Every Rose Has It's Thorns" cover on guitar. Also REALLY likes to talk to people.

Eric Buckley (lead guitar, vocals)
Rumor has it he's the son of a California senator. Well, he looks like he could be.

Chris Skudlarczyk (bass, vocals)
We're considering replacing him with a backing track.

Julia (violin)
Not always in the lineup, but always the coolest person in the band.

Runaways

Says she wants to be inside that painting on the wall
I take a sip of whiskey, smile say whats the point at all?
She don't care, and whats the point in askin

Flash of green, the curtains, and a smile means most anything
Searching for a message in the night what will it bring
Get some air, fuck it light another lets go

They say the truth it lies somewhere in between
All your wants and all your unforgiving needs
She let me take her picture in the moonlight laying there
The more I know, the less I know
I'm moving down, this lonesome road

Runaways lost on the road, 30 miles to Illinois
Stranger on the radio, it's filtered through the noise
Sweet air, it's early in the morning
An old forgotten respite, on the outskirts of town
She smiles the valley wide as she puts her nickel down
Play her song, the music is the answer

They say the truth it lies somewhere in between
All your wants and all your unforgiving needs
She let me take her picture in the moonlight laying there
The more I know, the less I know
I'm moving down, this lonesome road

Freedom Song

So cold the river
So high the mountain
So low the valley
So strong the wind
Stuck in a downpour
It soaks your skin
And now you're screaming out
Not this again!

But something's creeping
Something's telling me

There's some blue skies coming
Right around the bend
We'll be better off
Just hold on tight my friend

I know it's hard, so hard to move
But we'll keep on moving on
I know it's hard, so hard to move
So we'll sing this freedom song

So tight the grip is
So tall the towers
Where the lowly find a voice
In these waning hours
We must move upward
Despite our sin
To new horizons
Begin again

There's some blue skies coming
Right around the bend
We'll be better off
Just hold on tight my friend

I know it's hard, so hard to move
But we'll keep on moving on
I know it's hard, so hard to move
So we'll sing this freedom song

Overdrive

Goin to California, guitar in my hand
Traces of you with me, remnants of a plan
Smoke down in the valley, iridescent haze
Rolling hills around me, off the bright blue sky it plays

I see your face in crowded rooms
From subway stations to market aisles
Would you sing if I changed my tune?
I ought to

Castles built around me, I'm drifting through these walls
Drink their wine and play some, melancholy songs

I see your face in crowded rooms
From subway stations to market aisles
Would you sing if I changed my tune?
I mean to

We met in Arizona, she was reading history
Two weeks in Colorado, glued to a TV screen
Now it's three in the morning she can't sleep in the freezing cold
Lean months on the highway, she's scared of growing old

I see your face in crowded rooms
From subway stations to market aisles
Would you sing if I changed my tune?
I ought to

We met in Arizona, she was reading history
Two weeks in Colorado, glued to a TV screen
Now it's three in the morning she can't sleep in the freezing cold
Lean months on the highway, she's scared of growing old

Dancin Shoes

Another day, one more night
another trip around the world
She's lookin fine, in torn up sleeves
don't need a fair weather girl

So meet me, in the moment
Let's drive up miles to that old room
Tonight, we'll be together
And put on your dancin shoes
Yea put on your dancin shoes

Wrecked the car, around a pole
I pulled myself from midst the wreck
Flash a smile, red sequin dress
Gold shimmers round her neck

So meet me, in the moment
Let's drive up miles to that old room
Tonight, we'll be together
And put on your dancin shoes
Yea put on your dancin shoes

Little Bird

Born with eyes upon the stars, she's returnin, little footsteps
Blackboards singing, pointed shoes, fires burning, soaring above

Light as air, pull the sails, chasing wonder
Take these wings, the peace they bring, reconnecting
So go on, fly on home little bird

Paper planes to find the edge, fill in the middle, matching colors
Breathing deep to climb the scales, to hear the music, become the music

Light as air, pull the sails, chasing wonder
Take these wings, the peace they bring, reconnecting
So go on, fly on home little bird

Up and down, and side to side, can't find the words for, saying goodbye
Laughing, dancing in the halls, a little girl with stars in her eyes

Light as air, pull the sails, chasing wonder
Take these wings, the peace they bring, reconnecting
So go on, fly on home little bird
